A unique one of a kind of buddha statue hand carved from a rare species of wood - an evergreen coniferous tree in the Cypress family - Thuja sutchuenensis.
According to legend, a Hindu prince who renounced his position and wealth to seek enlightenment as a spiritual ascetic, attained his goal and in preaching his path to others, founded Buddhism.
The artwork is roughly 50cm tall including base stand and is about 14cm wide. The wooden carving emits a subtle aromatic fragrance from the base.
